August release for Nanban

Tamil remake of Aamir Khan starrer 3 Idiots, Nanban is gearing up for completion. Shankar who shot the film in Europe, Andaman, Coimbatore and Chennai is gearing up to wrap the shoot soon and looking forward for August release.

"We were continuously shooting in Europe, Andaman, Coimbatore and Chennai. We have shot almost all the complicated and difficult outdoor sequences of the film including climax. So far we have edited all the scenes and started dubbing. Again we are going for a long schedule next week at one stretch and we are going to complete the film." said Shankar who wants to concentrate on best promotion for his film just like 3I.

He also informs that Resul Pookutty has joined Nanban for sound designing. Nanban stars Vijay, Jeeva, Srikanth and Ileana D'Cruz in main lead. Though the release date is not yet announced, Shankar is looking forward to an August release.

Nirupama Rao named India's next ambassador to US

New Delhi: The government today officially announced the appointment of Foreign Secretary Nirupama Rao as the next Ambassador to the United States, an assignment she will take up shortly, official spokesperson in the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) said here.

Her appointment to succeed Meera Shankar as the US Ambassador was cleared by the government last month.

The 1973-batch IFS officer assumed the office of the Foreign Secretary on August 1, 2009, becoming the second woman to head the Indian Foreign Secretary after Chokila Iyer.

She was to retire in December last year at the age of 60 but was given an extension till July-end when the government fixed a two-year term for the post of Foreign Secretary.

Rao has served in various key positions and had been India's envoy to various countries, including China and Sri Lanka. She has also been the only woman spokesperson in the MEA.

She had earlier served in Washington as a junior diplomat.
