B.Tech. Admissions - VIT Engineering Entrance Examination Results (VITEEE - 2014)


More than 1.93 lakh engineering aspirants have registered to appear for the Vellore Institute of Technology Engineering Entrance Exam (VITEEE) 2014 which is being conducted online starting today, 9 April, till 20 April, 2014. These candidates will be competing for around 4,197 engineering seats in two campuses of VIT in Vellore and Chennai.


VITEEE is an admission test conducted by VIT, Vellore. On the basis of scores obtained in VITEEE 2014, candidates get to engineering degree programs at VIT, leading to the award of the Bachelor of Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor of Technology (B.Tech.)

Speaking at a press conference in Chennai while announcing the admissions to VIT, the chancellor of VIT University, G Viswanathan said that the number of registrations for VITEEE has increased from 1,66,978 applications (VITEEE 2013) to 1,93,790 applications (VITEEE 2014.)


The maximum applications are from the state of Andhra Pradesh (37,298) followed by Uttar Pradesh (28,337) and Bihar (18,861). There were only 12,555 applications from Tamil Nadu.

Admission counselling after VITEEE results would be conducted from 19 - 22 May, 2014. The exact counselling dates:

Rank 1 - 8,000: 19 May
Rank 8,001 - 12,000: 20 May
Rank 12,001 - 16,000: 21 May
Rank 16,001 - 20,000: 22 May


Scholarships:

VIT chancellor G Viswanathan has announced that central and state board toppers would be given a 100 per cent fee waiver for all four years. "VITEEE rank holders between 1 and 50 will be given 75 per cent fee waiver, while those ranking from 51 to 100 will be given 50 per cent and between 101 and 1,000 will be given a 25 per cent tuition fee waiver," he added. Additionally, as part of the STAR (supporting the advancement of rural students) programme, a girl and a boy 10+2 from government schools in rural areas in each district of Tamil Nadu, who obtain top marks in VITEEE, would receive 100% tuition fee waiver and full exemption from hostel and mess fee.
